Sports Therapy

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

I graduated from Bournemouth University in 2020 with a BSc in Sports Therapy. Having enjoyed my undergraduate degree so much I wanted to further my knowledge in sports rehabilitation and strength training. This lead me to completing my masters degree in Strength, Conditioning and Rehabilitation in the September of 2021. I have worked at Eastleigh F.C and was also given the opportunity to spend a week in Norway treating in a sports injury clinic (Nr1 Fitness).

Skills:

Sports massage

MET stretching

Trigger Point Therapy

Myofacial release

Sports injury rehabilitation

Strength Training

Passions:

I believe that any type of exercise and sport is incredibily important for not only an individuals physical well-being but their mental health as well. As a sports therapist my aim for my clients is to be able to get them back into playing their sport or to the gym and keep releasing those endorphins!

WHY DID YOU BECOME A SPORTS THERAPIST?

From a young age I was a keen netball player and loved all types of sport. Having sustained a few injuries myself, I know how disappointing an injury can be for an athlete. I wanted to make the healing, treatment and rehabilitation process a more positive place for athletes/keen sports people.

WHERE WOULD WE FIND YOU IN YOUR SPARE TIME?

I love the beach whether that would be swimming in the sea, long walks or running! I got into running during lockdown and its turned into a real passion of mine. I also love spending time with my family and friends (not forgetting my cats Piggy and Monkey and my little dog Wilbur).

Qualifications and Experience:

Cara completed her Physiotherapy degree at the University of South Australia, before moving to England in 2017. Since then she has spent time close to family in Somerset while enjoying work in private practice. Cara has completed post graduate study in acupuncture and dry needling to complement her other manual therapies.

Passions:

Cara has a love of the great outdoors, and values the importance of physical and mental well being. Outside of physio, she enjoys exploring her more creative side including her passion for music.

Why did Cara decide to become a Physiotherapist?

Cara loves spending every day getting to know each person individually and offering guidance to support them in returning to those activities most important to them. Having a background in dance and gymnastics, she experienced physiotherapy care in her early teens which first sparked her fascination of the human body. With a focus on hands-on treatment, she values keeping people actively involved in their own recovery and providing tools to manage ongoing symptoms.

Where would we find Cara in her spare time:

Getting back to running along the beach after missing the water and fresh sea air since moving away from Australia will be a welcome change! She loves getting outside in nature and staying active with rock climbing and yoga. At home, there’s a good chance you might find her having a strum on her guitar and writing a song or two!
